The Washington Mystics announced Monday that Elena Delle Donne will miss the next two weeks after aggravating a left ankle injury.
Delle Donne sprained the ankle on June 30 and returned from a two-game absence on Sunday. During a 92-84 road loss to the Connecticut Sun, Delle Donne landed on opponent DeWanna Bonner’s foot late in the first half and limped off the court.
This means the two-time league MVP won’t be able to suit up for Saturday’s WNBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas. Delle Donne had been named an All-Star for the seventh time.
Delle Donne was averaging 18.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and a career-high 2.6 assists over 15 starts. She has career averages of 19.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 233 games for the Chicago Sky (2013-16) and Mystics.
The Mystics, who have lost four of their past six games, will host the Seattle Storm on Tuesday for their final game before the All-Star break.
In addition to missing Delle Donne, Washington will be without center Shakira Austin (left hip strain) and guard Kristi Toliver (right plantar fasciitis). Guard Natasha Cloud, nursing a right ankle sprain, was listed as probable.
