Ilia Topuria remained unbeaten in his MMA career with a dominating unanimous decision in the main event featherweight bout over Josh Emmett on Saturday at UFC Fight Night in Jacksonville, Fla.
Topuria took the cards 50-44, 50-42, 49-45 to improve to 14-0 for his career. The 50-42 card is one of the most lopsided in MMA history.
Topuria recorded a knockdown and three takedowns in the bout. He landed 171 total strikes vs. 89 for Emmett, with 152 of those significant strikes. Emmett landed 87 significant blows.
“I’m the next guy, without any doubt,” Topuria said afterward. “I want Alex (Volkanovski) to defend that belt (against Yair Rodriguez) and show to him and the whole world that his (reign) is going to end and mine is going to start.”
Volkanovski vies to unify the UFC featherweight belts against Rodriguez, the interim champion, at UFC 290 next month.
